My mother swimming at Centre Island c. 1928. I have often wondered if one could still match the breakwater to the photo to see exactly where it was taken.

Ann Fern was born January 26, 1896 so it’s possible that the picture was taken slightly later. She passed away in 1995 at the age of 99.

My Mother's medal for good attendance at school. Year or level is unknown but it would have been prior to 1930.

Another option would be to set up the computer to dual boot with a Linux distro I have used Ubuntu, Mint, and Zorin. I use Linux for surfing on the older XP boxes and then boot into windows for the things I need windows for. Firefox and Chrome are no longer available in a 32 bit version for...

Lindy's was another favourite of mine at during that time. I remember going in there with a friend in a...

Thank you Goldie. There was one aircraft in Toronto as a spoil of war that was moved to De Havilland Aircraft (Downsview) and was examined by them. After De Haviland and the military got through with it, the airframe was buried. I am (was) with the Canadian Aerospace Museum (formerly...

Miscellany Toronto Photographs: Then and Now

I stumbled upon this forum and thread by accident while looking for something else. I first feel I have to give a big thank you to Mustapha, Goldie, and crew for all the work that has been done. The photos and the descriptions brought back memories that had been pushed to the almost hidden...

Re UCC: "The Avenue" is a street lined with trees ...less trees there now than the 60's (dutch elm). Why Avenue Rd was named that ... dunno. This does not sound right http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_north–south_roads_in_Toronto The Deer Park campus opened in 1869 after moving from King...
