Why don't they just use the Auxiliary Constables that Toronto police has?....they are uninformed and trained ....yes a lot less training and no gun...but they are exactly what is needed.....oh and they are volunteers so its FREE

Ya sorry, nice try. But it is a rackett that is unique to Toronto and a few other older cities. It has its roots from the days long ago when policing was more of a blue collar job and it was tactic for the cops to justify a way of topping up there paycheques. Now these days that police salary...

Well Unionization rate might be 78% if you are just counting numbers of cops but the real story is that ALL full service traditional Police Forces in Canada are unionized......with the (for now) exception of the RCMP

Yep that is another weird little Toronto only thing.....its like a Union/Mafia thing with odd rules forcing people to hire cops to stand around and make extra money. Leaving Toronto opened my eyes to how things are so much different and better in other Canadian cities.

Ummm are you thinking of a different city???? Toronto has never had cars with Navy Blue being one of the main colours. They where yellow in the 70s and 80s (and possibly 60s too) then in the 90s they went to white cars...and since then its just been variations of the logo and word decals etc

Most Canadian city police have black or really dark blue uniforms these days. Its practical for not showing dirt and stuff. I really don't think a change in shirt colour is going to have any effect.
