Toronto Aura at College Park | 271.87m | 78s | Canderel | Graziani + Corazza

I'm confident that these will be small to mid-sized, "quick sell" units with 9 foot ceilings which is standard here.

Are they 10' ceilings on that part of the tower? If they are the three extra floors might actually nudge it to almost Scotia's height. And really, if it were also possible to add another floor just below the penthouses this thing might even beat Trump's spire.

I believe Scotia is 274.9m tall
Aura was scheduled to be 264m at it's peak.
The addition would have to be at least 11 mteres to beat Scotia,
13 metres to beat Trump
too bad they didn't opt for four floors, they could have been the second tallest.

Of course they could build those floors at 4.3m each, but thats pretty unlikley.

To any rational onlooker Aura will be taller than Trump, additional floors or not. The 100 foot tall mosquito proboscis sticking up from the onion dome shouldn't count for squat.

I'm still hoping they'll add another 3 floors to the executive level as well (maybe next year?). This would aesthetically balance out the buildings look. Simply adding 3 floors to lower shaft might diminish the look of the curtain wall on the upper portion.

A total of 6 extra floors would also push this building officially above both Scotia and Trump.

Fingers crossed.

If you look closely you can see fourth level cladding

Hey, after BAC and Trump I though it couldn't get any better with regards to Toronto skyscraper construction. But now I see the true overlord of Toronto Skyscraper construction, and it's name is Aura. One Bloor and ICE will NOT be able to match this beast in anyway. As far as I am concerned its up to the proposed supertalls to beat this thing in category awesome.

By me.

that angle is pretty scary ^^^ aura is such a tank and will have a completely unobstructed view from yonge street south of it. this will be huge. 75 (now 78) floors of beastness.
is it likely to be taller than scotia plaza at this height?.

Just love how the tower angles out towards Yonge st. Reminds me of Hancock Place in Boston.

I see you have been swayed by our powerful and dark overlord, he welcomes all with open arms. Come, lets us worship him at the alter he stands upon :D

Although rumor is One Bloor is trying to best it(with that potential 5 floor increase), even still it would be shorter and smaller than this beast. In fact only 2 skyscrapers(buildings over 150m) in Toronto - FCP(2,700,120 sq ft) & Scotia(1,600,140 sq ft), will be more massive than it;

Aura;
1,300,000 sq/ft (not including the 3 additional floors)

It will surpass or just about equal all the following in floor area;

Toronto-Dominion Bank Tower;
over 1,300,000 sq/ft (26,476 sq/ft per floor x56)

RBC Centre;
1,215,000 sq/ft

Commerce Court West;

Bay Wellington Tower;
1,200,000 sq/ft (26,000 sq/ft per floor x47)

Bay Adelaide Centre;

Canada Trust Tower;
1,126,508 sq ft

I find it astonishing that, in a city the size of Toronto, a 78-story mega-tower could be in the hands of a local architectural firm with zero national or international profile and no track record of excellent or notable work; partnered with a developer with a reputation for using the most inexpensive and cut-rate materials available.

I can’t think of another large city in the US or Western Europe where such a second-rate developer and architect would be able to get something this big off the ground. How does this happen? Why is this project not in the hands of important, successful and/or extremely talented architects? In other words, people who aspire to create an architectural landmark for the city.

This should be a flagship project, a project that defines downtown Toronto for the 21st century, instead it is the hands of a low rent design/build firm with a well-earned reputation for cutting corners. Based on the folly that is The Residences at College Park, I think chances are very good that Aura could end being a monstrous albatross.
