Ryerson Image Centre
|
Ryerson's existing, oppressive yellow brick, School of Image Arts, at the corner of Gould and Bond Streets is being made over for the 21st century. Diamond + Schmitt Architects have maximized the footprint of the building by bringing it closer to the sidewalks, allowing for more learning space inside, and allowing for the creation of the brand new Ryerson Image Centre which will house the University's standout Black Star Photography Collection in a gallery, while upper floors will house research and teaching facilities. A new translucent skin sheaths the building in a frosted white glass backed by thousands of LED lights which can be programmed in a myriad of colours.
