Reflections
|
Reflections is the first residential phase in the redevelopment of the centre of Toronto’s first planned suburban community, Don Mills. Cadillac Fairview and Fram have teamed to re-plan one of Canada’s first strip malls into a true town centre. The market launch of the new building will coincide with the grand opening of the commercial development. The 12-storey 92-unit building has been designed to meet LEED Silver criteria and features large units suitable to the mature neighbourhood and market.
Its simple massing responds to the intersecting geometries of the site which is complimented by an intriguing use of textured precast panels evoking the commercial heritage of the site and complimenting the architectural language of the town centre. The building has been rendered as two distinct masses; one clad largely in precast panels using textures derived from the commercial history of the area to create an intriguing pattern, the southern portion is detailed with floor to ceiling glazing and continuous balconies.
