Construction of a new GO Station in Gormley is underway, extending the Richmond Hill line north to Stouffville Road and Leslie Street. The station will include surface parking with approximately 850 spaces, a bus loop, kiss and ride drop-off area, and pedestrian walkways. The station is expected to open by the end of 2016. Additionally, a recently opened train layover facility in Richmond Hill will support the extension of the Richmond Hill line. It will improve GO Train reliability and on-time performance by allowing trains to park overnight closer to the start of their morning trips.
New: James North
GO is also building a new GO Station at 353 James Street North in Hamilton to support the community’s growing population and anticipated GO Transit ridership growth along the Lakeshore West corridor. included is a new station building, fully-accessible north and south rail platforms, a Kiss & Ride, new parking lot, a bus loop and pedestrian/bicycle pathways, a full urban plaza and pedestrian bridges to provide more convenient customer access to the train platforms. The first phase of the project will open in time for the 2015 Pan Am Games, along with a second phase opening in 2016. Like the new Gormley station, a new train layover yard is being constructed in Stoney Creek to support the new station and ridership growth on the line.
